19th Century Rococo Style French Giltwood Mirror

Vintage Design

Sumptuous and imposing frame Rococo wood with double mirror, carved and gilded; the central mirror is surrounded by a carved frame, linear and austere with a shot-peened and decoration ends modeled cone; the upper part, exceptionally machined notch, includes an ornate oval mirror at the top by a soft tape from which extend two cords with end tassels, adorned with rich floral decorations; the set is a real blaze of glory and abundance in good standing of the Rococo style. On the wooden frame, a paste of gypsum (calcium carbonate has been deposited), vegetable sticky resins, honey, linseed oil and marble dust (machining-called ''pill'' was born in Italy at the end of '400), so it was rolled out the ''Armenian bole'' powder pigment of red clay, mixed with glue, once dried it all off, it proceeded with the application of thin gold leaf (gold leaf). Performed handcrafted in France between 1800 and 1830. Measurements cm.103 x 31 x 5
