Vintage Design

The Songye Shield is a striking example of African tribal art from the Congo, dating back to the mid-20th century. This shield, traditionally used by the Songye people for protection in both warfare and ceremonial contexts, is crafted from wood and intricately decorated. The surface of the shield is adorned with carved geometric patterns. The color palette is earthy, dominated by tones of brown, beige and black. A beautiful wabi sabi object with a great patina. Perfect as a decorative object for modern interiors.
