About This Piece

Vintage Design

Former screen with colors inked on a silk background decorated with birds, trees, and flowers. Four sheets have been reinstalled edge-to-edge in a large black lacquered wood frame. Far eastern symbolism of composing elements is meaningful. Indeed, blossom prunus is a nature resurrection symbol after winter. Blooming bud peony symbolizes spring, nobility, and prosperity. Hummingbirds are usually painted in couple referring to conjugal love. Japanese work, a period of 1900. Some marks of use on the panels, slightly bleached on the bottom near to the frame, in the middle.
