A sculpture with a representation of a woman's head, with features characteristic of the Art Deco style (20-30s of the 20th century) and other trends popular in art at the beginning of the 20th century.

A slender, elongated face with a high forehead, large, almond-shaped eyes, a tiny nose and small, heavily cut lips resemble characters painted by Amedeo Modigliani. The rough structure of the hair, from which the head of the sleeping woman seems to emerge, resembles the solutions of Impressionist sculptors - such as Rodin or Laszczka. Untreated, raw matter symbolized the shaping and birth of new forms extracted from stone thanks to the amazing ability of the creators.
The attractiveness of the bas-relief is not its canonical beauty based on proportions, but the stylization and cubization deviating from naturalism.

The sculpture can also be associated with the milieu of Polish sculptors who strove to create an original national style. They drew inspiration from folk art, especially Zakopane art, they also emphasized the great role of artistic craftsmanship. They became famous primarily at the world exhibition in Paris in 1925, winning numerous awards and world renown. Among them were: Wojciech Jastrzębowski, Zofia and Karol Stryjeński, Jan Szczepkowski and Stanisław Szukalski.
