This set of Art Nouveau bowls consists of one big fruit bowl and 6 smaller bowls. All items in the set are made from yellowish-green glass. The iridescent layer adds colorful sparkle. They have a unique shape, as every bowl opens with lips partially bent inwards. The swinging line of lips and soft silhouettes are typical for Bohemian Art Nouveau glass. The Loetz Witwe company, established in 1836, in Klostermühle (now Klášterský Mlýn), was one of the most important glassworks of Art Nouveau glass. Initially, it specialized in the production of crystal glass and painted glass. Gradually, the developing technology enabled the glasswork to produce glass imitating marble or gemstones like onyx or malachite. These products were very popular and were awarded many times on exhibitions in Brussels, Munich, Vienna, and on the World Fair in Paris in 1889. The beginnings of Silberiris pattern are dated between 1899 and 1900. It is one of the most iridescent types of glass developed in Loetz Witwe glasswork. Subsequently, many famous Art Nouveau designers used the simple and lovely Silberiris pattern in their projects. Among them were Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann, and Viennese manufacture E. Bakalowitz. Also, the prestigious Tiffany Studio and Tiffany’s interior designers had identical bowls in their offer.
