About This Piece

Vintage Design

The collaboration between Prof. Gangkofner and Peill and Putzler only lasted a few years from 1953 to 1958. During this extremely productive time, Prof Gangkofner had a decisive influence on lighting production at Peill and Putzler. In addition to him, Prof. Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Wilhelm Braun–Feldweg should also be mentioned. Aloys F. Gangkofner developed new techniques for inflating the lighting fixtures. The implementation of these techniques for industrial production freed the forms from the objective rigor of the early 1950s and gave them individual independence. The lighting fixtures not only served their purpose, but also, when unlit, were an emphasized form for the modern room.

Molded clear glass, frosted glass underpinned and matted on both sides, metal assembly with an E 27 socket, connection cable plastic-coated white with internal steel cable renewed, plastic canopy

slight traces of wear. Professionally rewired with an internal steel cable, the elegant, ribbed ball lamp from A.F.Gangkofner is now fully functional again.
