Vintage Design

As early as 1920, Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein completed a compulsory preliminary course at the Bauhaus Weimar with Johannes Itten, and in 1921 she was admitted to a trial semester with Gerhard Marcks in the ceramic workshop at the Bauhaus in Dornburg/Saale.
In 1923 she founded the workshops for ceramic art in Marwitz.
In 1925 she presented her designs in the avant-garde Sturm Gallery in Berlin.
In 1933, the Nazi regime had to shut down operations because of "anti-state sentiments".
Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein emigrated to Great Britain at the end of December.

The bowl is a rare relic of her short time as a ceramicist.
