Small Inkwell in Bronze and Cloisonne Enameling.
This technique of silversmithing is based on the principle of metal strips with turned up edges welded on the bottom of the object. In the cavities thus formed is poured powder of various colors, which will not risk to mix during the heating.
Thus, this Inkwell is, on all its visible parts, covered with Foliage and other patterns, predominantly Blue. Nevertheless, some of them have yellow, red or white colors.
This accessory consists of a rounded compartment, with a lid with a small bronze button and twisted decorations. Its initial and obvious function was the storage of the Ink necessary for writing.
This element rests in the center of an elongated and cut-out Cup. This support is itself equipped with four small bronze legs.
This Inkwell is recognized for the brightness of its colors and their very good state of preservation. If we can't imagine today a return to its original use, it will constitute an authentic and discrete Object of Decoration, or a place of choice for your most precious Ring.
