Vintage Design

Vajravārāhi, considered the Buddha-Woman, her right hand raised holding the Kartika cleaver, the left the Kapala skull cup, displaying a necklace of skulls. In Tibet she is the emanation of Dorje Phagmo, the highest female incarnation and the third highest person in the hierarchy after the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama. 1900 or earlier. Provenance: Estate of the art dealer Claude de Marteau. Sold with certificate of provenance. Bronze, lots of sediment deposits, as found in the boxes on site. (The earth under the base was already scraped) H 19 cm x W 14 cm x D 6 cm
