Sixflame candelabrum, Franz Hagenauer, Werkstatte Hagenauer Vienna, circa 1970, mod. no. 2638, brass nickel-plated, marked In this sixflamed candelabrum Franz Hagenauer takes up the design of his candlestick “tree”. With brass tubes angled at 90 degrees as characteristic elements, that iconic candelabrum won Werkstatte Hagenauer international reputation at Milans Triennale show in 1930. Lining up the individual candlesticks symmetrically, Franz Hagenauers creates a sculptural object with a very modern appearance. Its futuristic character is further emphasized by the silver-metal material, thus giving the candelabrum an overall no-frills elegance. marked with “”wHw” in the circle, “HAGENAUER/WIEN” bib.: comp. contemporary photograph in the Hagenauer Archive at Museum of Applied Arts Vienna, inv. no.
