About This Piece

Sculpture representing Shakyamuni, known as the Buddha, sitting on the ground, adorned with his jewels and wearing a kesa.
He is accompanied by a Noh dog with glass eyes.
This work rests on a tray with a carved and openworked perimeter.
Note the presence of sinograms on the reverse of the sculpture and on the tray.
