These chairs were designed especially for the Czechoslovakian embassy in Stockholm by the award-winning architect Jan Bočan in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This model was specifically designed for the conference room. The project was finished in 1972. Bočan designed all the furniture for the building, including this pair of bentwood easy chairs which were most likely produced by Thonet. The chairs were never put into serial production at the time and these examples are from the actual embassy. The purple cushions are set around a dark bentwood frame with a rich woodgrain and arched central support. The upholstery is possibly of a later date but was ordered by the embassy.
