Afra & Tobia Scarpa set of six dining room chairs in cognac leather and black lacquered wood, Italy 1966 This is a fantastic set of six dining room chairs made of cognac brown leather and black lacquered wood. They were designed in Italy in 1966 by Afra & Tobia Scarpa - award-winning postmodern Italian architects and designers. These chairs are unique because the whole seating structure is made of leather, while the legs are made of wood. The curved lines and combination of materials make them a perfect addition to a mid-century living or dining room. Afra and Tobia Scarpa are renowned designers, with their pieces displayed in museums across the United States and Europe, including MoMA and the Louvre Museum collections. They have collaborated with several prestigious companies, including B&B Italia, San Lorenzo Silver, and Knoll International. The couple's design work includes architecture, furniture, clothing, interior design, and art glass. They focused on the technical and aesthetic possibilities of materials in their designs. Carlo Scarpa, a Venetian architect and designer, greatly influenced them. These chairs are in excellent original condition, with a fantastic patina.
