About This Piece

Daugava 2005, a/e paper, linocut, 14x10 cm

"Daugava" depicts the Daugava River, which is a significant river in Latvia. The linocut technique allows the artist to capture the essence of the river through carefully carved lines and patterns, creating a visual representation of its flowing waters.

The choice of paper and linocut as the medium indicates a traditional and hands-on approach to printmaking. The artist has utilized various carving tools to create intricate details and textures in the linocut block, resulting in a visually captivating representation of the Daugava River.

1987 - 1993 Academy of Art (Riga, Latvia), department of Graphics, BFA.

1994 - Member of Latvian Young Artist Association.

1995 - Member of the Graphic Artists`Union of Latvia “Grafikas kamera”.

1999 - Member of the Artists`Union of Latvia.

Creative and professional experience

Since1992 worked in the publishing house of Rerih`s society “Uguns”.

Collaborated with periods childrens magazine “Gnom”.

1998 - 2006 illustrated in the newspaper “Subbota” literature works.

1992 - 1999 take part in actions of union “Blue Door”.

Since 1998 collaborate with publishing houses “Zvaigzne ABC” and “Avots”.
