Biography
He was born in Mantua on 13 December 1955.
He enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna to graduate in 1978. The artistic activity begins during the attendance of the Academy, with the participation in the collectives organized by the high school, to then prepare, the first personal exhibition entitled "Ri/Velare "The Mantua nail in 1979 at the gallery.
In 1980, he followed "accursia" curated by Pozzati concept, at the Palazzo d'Ambo in Bologna; The following year he exhibited at the Galleria Il nail (MN) and, in 1982, at the Tommaseo Gallery in Trieste with the exhibition "A visual hypothesis"; So at the San Fedele Gallery in Milan in 1984. In the following years Gradi is present in various national events: in 1983 in Suzzara he was invited to the review "Eight young artists in the gallery" wanted from the local Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporary; In the following year, to the Mantegna house. Figures at the "imbalance" review, and with Chiara Dynys he sets up a staff at the Einaudi Library Gallery in Mantua. Marco Gradi, in addition to the activity of painter, deals with research on the works of the past, adopting a principle linked to the morphology of the painting: conformation, structure, structural analysis of pigments, stratigraphy, visual perception and semiology on the body of painting. His are the research and studies on Baschenis, the Spanish, Domenico Zeni and other artists of contemporary characteristics.
In 2004 Marco Gradi founded the magazine "La Tenda Rossa", in collaboration with Sabine Frank and Marco Paladini, with the collaboration of Campanotto Editore; The magazine is distributed in Italy by the Feltrinelli bookstores
