About the artist:

Dr. Maria Steinbauer, a specialist in psychiatry and neurology, looks back on a successful career in the field of mental health. She worked as a senior physician at the Psychiatric University Hospital in Graz, where she headed a general psychiatric ward with a focus on inpatient psychotherapy. In 1987 she developed and implemented a psychotherapeutic unit in women's psychiatry and integrated a psychotherapeutic concept on a psychiatric level. Dr. Steinbauer has observed and described psychiatric illnesses and therapy processes and conducted therapy courses in the concept of integrative painting therapy. She has published numerous publications, given lectures at home and abroad and exhibited her own works. In 1997 she received her license to teach psychiatry and has been running a private psychotherapeutic practice ever since. Dr. Steinbauer has also been involved in humanitarian operations, providing psychiatric and psychotherapeutic support in crisis situations such as the Kosovo crisis, the tsunami disaster in Thailand and the Beslan tragedy in Russia.
