Regency Hand Dyed Brown Leather & Hand-Painted Armchair Attributed to Gillows

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning fully restored hand dyed cigar brown leather period Regency mahogany Chesterfield Porters armchair attributed to Gillows A very good looking and classically designed Regency piece, if you google Regency Gillow's armchair you will see this exact piece, its listed "attributed to" because we can't find the stamp without removing the entire upholstery, that said a lot of their pieces weren't stamped because they were so clearly made by them. The look and feel is absolutely timeless, this chair looks wonderful in any setting The timber is fruitwood which has been painted to reflect rosewood, it's been expertly executed and only a trained eye can see the finish is painted, this was clearly a customer commission and not an uncommon practice in the Regency to Victorian era. The ends of the arms are finished with bronze floral mounts. I have removed the base cover of the chair so you can see its period and has been hand cut, we will, of course, hand nail tack a hessian base cover back in place prior to dispatch The chair has been fully restored to include being hand dyed this lovely deep whisky brown color, the hide has natural imperfections and marks from honest use and fair ware Dimensions: Height:- 92 cm Width:- 67.5 cm Depth:- 75 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point.
