Atsonea gilt framed oval mirror in superb condition for its age.The oval plate is mounted in a gilt gesso frame with French rococo styling with an urn and flame to the top framed with swags which carry down the sides and are reflected in the Fleur de lys and swags on the bottom.Some minor wear as would be expected of its age, the worst of which is a crack at the bottom.Probably made in the 1930’s when Atsonea (Attwell & Co) were the pre-eminent makers of decorative mirrors in Britain, before 1942, when as part of the war effort, they changed to engineering work and mainly Spitfire parts.A hefty piece at about 5kg and has a specialist bracket to allow wall mounting.A superb, very elegant mirror which would grace any room. Dimensions: Frame 49cm across by 91cm high. 3.5cm deep. Plate is 37cm across by 52.5cm high Weight: 5 kg Condition: Frame condition commensurate with age. Small plit to bottom of frame.
