Silvio Travaglia - Il Monte Cero sui Colli Euganei 45cm x 35cm (frame excluded) - oil on panel, 1950s TRAVAGLIA SILVIO Born in Monselice (Padua) on October 11, 1880, died in Padua on December 3, 1970. Just sixteen years old he moved to Venice to attend the Academy of Fine Arts where he became a pupil of Guglielmo Ciardi and is in friendly union with Emma and Beppe Ciardi, Ugo Valeri, with the Romanian Aiescu, with the sculptor Gianatasio and the Paduan Antonio Soranzo with whom he carried on a deep friendship destined to last a lifetime. He teaches at the School of Art of Este, in which institutes a special course for the industrial design; afterwards he participates to the war and once overcome the parenthesis, during which the family takes refuge in Tuscany because of the retreat of Caporetto, he lives in Sacile, accepting the teacher's chair at the Istituto Magistrale; chair that will conserve with long and appreciated devotion. Valuable musical composer beyond that painter, author of numerous suites for great orchestra (Sinfonietta goldoniana, Vendemmiale, Venezia misteriosa, and others). It presents its pictorial activity to Verona, Turin, Padua, Wiesbaden, Berlin, San Paolo, New York, Philadelphia. In particular, of notable affirmation they were the personal shows ch'egli held in San Paolo of the Brazil, and to Milan in 1966 to the Gallery Cairola. From 1922 to 1935 he realized numerous works of sacred decoration, working with his brother-in-law Antonio Soranzo; remember: the altarpiece of Santa Teresa in the church of San Luca in Padua, the decorations of the ceilings of the parish churches of Camin, Chiesanuova, Mestrino, Saletto, Montagnana, in the province of Padua. In collaboration with the Laurenti realized the decoration of the well-known Room of the Hotel Storione, in Padua; work gone destroyed. He was a landscape painter, intuitive and in admiring wonder in front of the beauties of nature, which he expressed with sweetness and genuinely listening to his inner needs.
