About This Piece

This is part of a series (nine canvases) that explores ideas about vision, perception and scale. The eye picks out scenes in a landscape and leaves the mind to assemble the bigger picture. I've divided this panorama into smaller compartments, jigsaw-wise, leaving me free to examine the details. This is one of nine canvases that enlarge each view still further to demonstrate that the minutiae of landscape have to be actively sought by the observer, and, in the process, lose some of their solidity.
